February 2023
Jeff and Meghan examine the rise in inflation that has come on the heels of dramatically increased debt levels and money printing, as well as the Federal Reserve’s delayed scramble to curb that inflation with higher interest rates. They also delve into the poor performance of traditional stocks and bonds last year, particularly with bonds having their worst year in history. The outlook, however, is intriguing as there are some attractive opportunities in the bond market for the first time in many years.
Compared to these traditional assets, our alternative investments have proven to be more resilient during a challenging year. They discuss how alternatives like private lending, gold, and real estate equity have behaved differently in this inflationary and high-interest rate environment. Meghan and Jeff share our focus going forward into 2023: continuing to be vigilant in finding non-traditional, diversifying assets for your portfolio.
